[Base Completes Cobalt Upgrade, Adds Conditional Transactions and Issuer Controls for Tokenized Assets] Odaily Planet Daily News: Base has completed the Cobalt upgrade, introducing tools for conditional transactions and issuer controls for tokenized assets. This upgrade extends the B20 token standard, allowing issuers to set multiple compliance checks for the same asset, including identity verification, accredited investor qualifications, and sanctions list screening. Issuers can preset corporate actions such as stock splits, enabling updates to the displayed share count in wallets and applications without minting, burning tokens, or altering the underlying balance. Issuers can also authorize administrators to transfer tokens without holder approval, accompanied by a public explanation, though Base itself cannot initiate such transfers. Cobalt introduces Validity Transactions, enabling users to submit transactions with on-chain conditions, such as executing an exchange only if an asset reaches a target price before a specified block deadline. These transactions can remain private until included in a block. Base activated B20 as the native standard for fungible tokens like stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets on July 8. On August 25, Coinbase issued B20 tokens on Base representing stocks of Apple, Nvidia, Meta, and Alphabet. (Cointelegraph)
