🚨BREAKING: A MAJOR U.S. crypto tax update has just been introduced in the Senate, per Politico.
Republican Sen. Steve Daines unveiled a 56-page bill that would modernize the tax code for digital assets.
Key changes include:
- Tax exemption for small purchases made with stablecoins
- New wash-sale rules for crypto to prevent artificial tax-loss harvesting
- Broader changes aimed at simplifying digital asset tax compliance
The bill has backing from Senate Banking Chair Tim Scott, Sen. Cynthia Lummis and Sen. Bernie Moreno.
If passed, it could make stablecoins significantly easier to use for everyday payments in the U.S.
