[Gate Official Customer Service Response: BEN Perpetual Contract Funding Rate Error Causes Thousand-Fold Liquidation for Short Positions, Full Compensation for Losses Involving 200 Accounts] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on October 1, Gate Exchange mistakenly processed the funding rate for BEN contracts at 16:00 (UTC+8) on September 30 due to confusion between BEN stock and BEN perpetual contracts caused by identical names. The error resulted in a funding fee of 0.33u being distributed to BEN perpetual contracts priced at only 0.000585u, leading to an epic thousand-fold liquidation of short positions. Some users with small accounts saw their initial capital of 1000u turn into a debt of 1 million u owed to Gate. In response, Gate's official customer service stated: Regarding the situation with BEN contracts, we conducted an immediate investigation. Due to the asset identification issue caused by identical names, an anomaly occurred during the processing of BEN contract funding rates, affecting approximately 200 accounts. The issue was promptly addressed upon discovery, and the user balance display problems have been gradually restored. Users have not suffered any losses, as Gate will fully cover the costs. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact customer service at any time.
