Checked out @stockpocks' gameplay intro, and what really caught my eye is how it combines walking, pet care, and on-chain mechanics—all without needing to buy an NFT upfront.
You’re raising a little creature called Pock. You can feed it, take care of it, and go on Roams together. When you go out for a walk, use the Walk mode; when you’re at home, you can experience its story through Studio mode. Every session leaves behind keepsakes and memories, gradually filling up its collection shelf. Missing a day won’t affect its state—no pressure to log in daily.
Currently, the open test is free to try. You can play directly in your browser without downloading anything or connecting a wallet. The Practice Pock provided by the system can be raised, explored, and collected, but it’s not an NFT, has no asset value, and doesn’t generate rewards.
The future on-chain mechanics will mainly revolve around Genesis Pocks.
Genesis Pocks are the first limited-edition Pocks, divided into six clans, with clan assignments revealed after purchase. According to the project’s design, holders can explore with their Pocks or complete accepted Build creation tasks to collect MOTE. MOTE can be used to buy in-game items or transferred to a wallet, but a portion is burned upon transfer.
Another token, POCK, is used for Pock growth and breeding. Each clan has its own trading pool, and most of the transaction fees are distributed to the clan’s Pocks, with a portion allocated to buy back and burn POCK. This means rewards depend not only on participation but also on whether there’s actual trading activity in the pool—it’s not fixed income.
The Genesis plan will use a gradually descending auction, where everyone settles at the same final price, and those who bid higher earlier will get refunded the difference. However, the sale date hasn’t been announced yet, and MOTE, fee rewards, and the shop are also not live. The free trial will continue until Genesis is revealed, after which the full gameplay will require a Genesis Pock.
What I’m curious about is: without the expectation of rewards, will this little pet and its story be engaging enough to keep people coming back? If the raising and exploration aspects are fun, the on-chain mechanics will have a solid foundation.
If you want to check out the gameplay, you can start by claiming a free Practice Pock, complete a Roam, and see your keepsake card. For updates on launches and Genesis, follow @stockpocks. Come play with me—here’s my invite code:
