[Singapore Crypto Market Reaches $284 Billion, Institutional Activity Up 94%]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on September 30, according to data from Cointelegraph, a Chainalysis report revealed that Singapore's crypto economy grew by 55.4% to $284 billion in the year leading up to June 2026, surpassing the 6.8% contraction seen in other regions of Central and Southern Asia and Oceania (CSAO) during the same period. This growth momentum was primarily driven by institutional activity, with transaction volumes soaring 94% year-on-year to $60 billion. Chainalysis emphasized that this incremental growth was highly concentrated among a few existing platforms, particularly the active trading of high-frequency market makers, over-the-counter (OTC) traders, and institutional brokers, rather than stemming from the entry of numerous new services.
As the market expands, Singapore is advancing crypto regulatory reforms. In 2025, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) will introduce new regulations requiring local crypto institutions serving overseas clients to apply for licenses or exit the market. StraitsX CEO Tianwei Liu noted that this effectively curbs speculative activities, enabling more institutions such as banks and large enterprises to apply blockchain technology to real-world production scenarios.
