[Bank of England: UK Government Bond Market Faces Increasing Spillover Risks] Jin10 Data reported on September 30 that the Bank of England has warned that the high leverage levels of hedge funds in the UK government bond market, combined with their exposure to risks related to artificial intelligence assets and corporate debt, have heightened the risk of stress transmission across markets. This makes the market more vulnerable to simultaneous shock pressures. This warning comes as the yield on UK 10-year government bonds approaches levels seen during the 2008 financial crisis. The Bank of England mentioned that the Financial Policy Committee (FPC) is studying measures aimed at enhancing the resilience of the government bond repo market and managing risks to address "the risks brought by rising market leverage over the past 18 months." These measures are expected to be released in early 2027.
