According to Kobe News, the Ashiya Police Station in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, announced on September 30 that a 65-year-old man was scammed by someone impersonating a police officer, losing approximately 826 million yen (around $5.26 million) in crypto assets. The scammer falsely claimed that his bank account was involved in multiple reports and demanded an asset check to 'prove his innocence.' Following instructions, the victim converted his deposits and securities into cryptocurrency and transferred them to a personal wallet. Between September 7 and 17, the assets were transferred in 10 separate transactions to addresses controlled by the scammer.
