[Germany's Inflation Rate Rises to Nearly Three-Year High]
Reported by Jinse Finance, on September 30, Germany's inflation rate reached its highest level in nearly three years, adding further pressure on the European Central Bank to raise interest rates. Germany's consumer prices in September rose 3.3% year-on-year, exceeding economists' median forecast of 3.2%. The main driver of accelerating inflation was the rise in energy prices. Indicators measuring underlying price pressures within Germany remained unchanged at 2.4%. Previously, France, Italy, and Spain all reported unexpectedly strong overall inflation data; among them, Spain's inflation rate has risen to 5%, driven by soaring fuel costs due to the Iran conflict. Eurozone-wide inflation data is scheduled to be released on October 2, with economists expecting inflation to rebound significantly to 3.7%. (Jin10)
