[Federal Reserve's Barr: Further Rate Hikes May Be Needed to Control Inflation] According to Golden Finance, on September 30, Federal Reserve Governor Michael Barr stated that the process of reducing inflation has been disrupted, and the Fed may need to further adjust monetary policy to ensure inflation returns to the 2% target in a timely manner. Speaking at the Detroit Economic Club, Barr noted that there is currently no clear trend of inflation "returning to the 2% target in a timely manner." He said inflation remains too high, with related risks increasing, while the labor market remains relatively robust, with risks decreasing. Barr emphasized that the Fed needs to recalibrate its policies to better balance the risks between employment and inflation. He mentioned that under the baseline scenario, further policy adjustments may be necessary in the future to ensure inflation can promptly reach the target level. Barr also pointed out that the Middle East conflict has driven up global oil prices, while the artificial intelligence investment boom has increased demand for certain high-tech goods, adding price pressures faced by businesses and consumers.
