[Chainlink Launches Framework to Connect Banks with SWIFT Blockchain Ledger; 17 Banks Preparing Pilot Programs]
According to a report by crypto.news on September 29, Chainlink announced on September 28 a new connectivity framework that allows banks to access SWIFT's blockchain ledger via the Chainlink platform while retaining their own transaction signing keys. This framework uses the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) to coordinate interactions between institutional systems and the ledger. Banks adopt a 'self-signing' model, eliminating the need to hand over authorization keys to Chainlink. The SWIFT ledger supports 24/7 tokenized deposit payments, but final settlements are still completed through existing mechanisms such as real-time gross settlement systems. Currently, 17 banks from six continents, including ANZ, HSBC, Citibank, Standard Chartered, and UBS, are preparing to conduct tokenized deposit pilot programs on the SWIFT ledger.
