BlockBeats News, September 29, according to official sources, the government of El Salvador has partnered with Modveon to launch a government-supported remittance app called Sivar. The app is built on Coinbase's Base network, enabling Salvadorans to easily send and hold digital dollars, with a focus on cross-border remittances. Sivar marks the first nationwide deployment of Modveon's proprietary 'Verification Operating System,' integrating identity verification, community, institutional services, and payments into a trusted application. Core financial flows are supported by Coinbase infrastructure. Users can directly fund transfers using debit cards via Coinbase Onramp, and each user receives a non-custodial wallet within the app. Peer-to-peer transfers between verified users are powered by Coinbase API, with transactions settled in stablecoins on Base, achieving fast and low-cost value transfers. Once transfers are completed, recipients can cash out at over 1,000 locations across El Salvador. Regardless of the transfer amount, the fee is fixed at $2, making it one of the lowest-cost options for the US-El Salvador corridor. [Original Link]
