[Iranian Currency Falls to Historic Low of Over 2.5 Million Rials per 1 USD]
According to Golden Finance, on September 29, the Iranian currency, the rial, fell to a historic low on Tuesday, trading at over 2.5 million rials per 1 USD in the Tehran exchange market, highlighting the ongoing erosion of Iran's economy due to the prolonged Middle East conflict. This comes just 27 days after the rial hit its previous record low of 2.2 million rials per 1 USD on September 2. Since the outbreak of the conflict in February, the currency's exchange rate has repeatedly hit new lows.
Meanwhile, Iran's top diplomat stated that indirect negotiations between Iran and the U.S., aimed at reopening the critical Hormuz Strait, have become "more serious." On Tuesday, General Hossein Mohabbian, the chief spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, called on the American public to take to the streets in protest against the conflict.
