The European Commission, the EU's executive body, issued binding directives in July, requiring Google to ensure that competing AI services can access Android device-related features and compete fairly with Gemini. EU officials also demanded that Google share search data with certain third-party search engines (including AI chatbots) to help them compete more fairly with Google Search. On Tuesday, Google stated that it has filed an appeal with the General Court of the European Union (the EU's second-highest court). The ruling requires Google to complete search data sharing by January 2027 and to implement the necessary adjustments to the Android system by July next year.
