Decentralization ≠ Anarchy! The true value of Bitcoin and Ethereum lies in the fact that no one can easily strip you of your right to hold and transfer assets based on your identity, nationality, or opinions. But that’s completely different from pretending not to see when a hacker steals $500 million under the guise of decentralization. Freedom should protect the property and transaction rights of legitimate users, not provide criminals with an 'untouchable privilege.' The crypto industry needs to find a way to ensure freedom for everyone while effectively curbing hackers and other illegal activities. Decentralization doesn’t mean disorganization or lawlessness. The crypto industry must take proactive steps to combat criminal activities to survive and thrive in the long run. I believe the future of Crypto should look something like this: The underlying protocols remain as neutral as possible, while upper-layer applications become increasingly capable of governance. It’s like this: BTC/ETH and other base layers stay open, permissionless, and censorship-resistant. DeFi protocols have the ability to implement risk controls, rate limits, circuit breakers, and anomaly detection. Bridges can introduce large-amount anomaly freeze windows and risk control systems. CEXs, with KYC, can trace and freeze stolen funds. Stablecoin issuers can maintain blacklists and enforcement mechanisms. Wallets can provide risk address alerts and scam detection.
