Anthropic Releases New AI Model Claude Sonnet 5.5, Featuring Faster Speed and Lower Costs

According to official reports, Anthropic released its new AI model Claude Sonnet 5.5 on Monday, positioned as a faster and more cost-effective product. Anthropic claims it outperforms its predecessor in programming, completing well-defined tasks, and creating documents, slides, and spreadsheets. This release comes less than a week after the launch of the more expensive Opus 5.5. Anthropic also announced that the most affordable model in the series, Haiku 5.5, will be launched soon. Anthropic stated that Sonnet 5.5 does not push the frontier of model capabilities, as its alignment tests primarily focus on risks applicable to models of any capability level. However, Sonnet 5.5 has significantly improved cybersecurity capabilities compared to its predecessor, making it the first Sonnet model launched with backup protection and cybersecurity measures.
