Odaily Planet Daily News: As private assets become increasingly difficult to sell and investor redemption requests surge, Wall Street's primary financial regulatory agency is urging the financial industry to strengthen efforts in valuing such assets. On Monday, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a statement regarding existing regulatory requirements. While no new rules were proposed, the statement is seen as a "critical reminder." This indicates that the agency will focus on how companies determine the value of their holdings and how they disclose these values and associated risks to investors. In a joint statement, the SEC's Office of the Chief Accountant and Division of Investment Management stated: "The core message across the valuation and disclosure topics discussed in this statement is consistent: robust policies and procedures, coupled with comprehensive and material disclosures, help investors understand the entity's fair value assessment process, the judgments involved, and the risks associated with private assets."
