[Polymarket Announces New Rust Matching Engine Timeline: End-to-End Completion in October, Production Traffic Mirroring in November]
Reported by Jinse Finance on September 28, Polymarket engineer Josh Stevens revealed the timeline for Polymarket DeFi's new Rust-based Central Limit Order Book (CLOB): achieving end-to-end completion of the full order lifecycle in the pre-release environment by October; mirroring all production traffic to the new matching cluster in November for comparison with the current system, opening market maker testing permissions (exact date to be confirmed by the end of October), finalizing the migration and switchover plan, and completing two full process rehearsals before official release. He stated that the migration will require almost no changes for market makers/developers, as the request and response interfaces will remain unchanged. Previously, he mentioned that the old CLOB had significant technical debt and would be rewritten in Rust. Early data shows p99 speeds are 10–20 times faster, with a throughput of 200,000 orders per second.
