[Trump Rejects Iran's Proposal, Oil Prices Surge, U.S. Treasury Sell-Off Resumes]
Odaily Planet Daily News: After U.S. President Trump rejected Iran's latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices rose during Monday's Asian trading session, intensifying inflation concerns and triggering a renewed sell-off of U.S. Treasury bonds. The yield on the two-year U.S. Treasury, which is sensitive to interest rate changes, increased by 5 basis points to 4.90%, while the 10-year yield rose by 4 basis points to 5.20%. Sovereign bonds in Japan and Australia also declined. Prior to this, yields across all maturities of U.S. Treasuries had already surged to multi-year highs last week, as the market focused on recent policy statements and decisions from the Federal Reserve. Damien McColough, Head of Fixed Income Research at Westpac, stated: 'The Federal Reserve's continued hawkish signals, along with oil prices remaining above $100 per barrel, are key factors driving bearish sentiment in the bond market.'
