There are thousands of altcoins on exchanges, and the chain pushes dozens of projects to me every day (I check each one). The days of altcoin season with universal gains are over. Even during the liquidity flood of 2020-2021, it couldn't withstand so much dispersion among projects. Some people are still questioning whether the bull market is here, completely ignoring those projects that have been steadily rising from the bottom or even hitting new highs.
