"Old V's 2030 Vision - The World Computer of Crypto
From last year's 'world ledger' to this year's vision of a 'crypto world computer,' Old V is looking ahead to 2030 for these ideas to potentially become reality. This feels like the next 5-year plan—sounds familiar, doesn't it?
What Ethereum might look like in 2030:
- **Stronger Censorship Resistance**: Achieved through FOCIL, enabling near-instant transaction inclusion guarantees.
- **Transaction Authorization**: Quantum-secure signatures (or multiple types) or zero-knowledge proofs.
- **Significant Privacy Enhancements**: General-purpose computation with strong privacy; specialized applications achieving even stronger privacy. Protections like ZK-SNARKs, private account abstraction, onion routing/mixnets will cover writes, account policies, reads, and network layers.
- **Lower Latency**: Slot times around 4–8 seconds, finality in about 8–32 seconds (compared to early days with ~17-second block times and 200-second confirmations).
- **Lighter Nodes**: No need to run heavy full nodes to get strong guarantees; SNARKs drastically reduce computational load. Light clients can verify both consensus and validity (data availability + computation).
- **Transaction Inclusion Path**: User → Strong privacy mempool → FOCILer or builder → Block; signatures/proofs are stripped and aggregated early on.
- **Computation Structure Becomes Key**: Breaking computation into parallelizable, pre-aggregatable/prunable parts will be much cheaper; cramming everything into a single serialized transaction will be much more expensive. In the long term, this could evolve into: only non-fungible state changes and ordering info are stored on-chain, while everything else is aggregated before entering the block."
