[Riot Platforms Repays $200 Million Coinbase Loan, Releases 5,821 BTC Collateral]
Odaily Planet Daily News – According to documents submitted by Riot Platforms to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company voluntarily repaid all outstanding loans and accrued interest to Coinbase Credit on September 21 and terminated the previously established $200 million credit line without incurring early termination fees or penalties. The loan had previously been fully drawn by Riot, with a fixed annual interest rate of 6.15%, and was originally set to mature on April 20, 2027.
As of June 30, Riot had pledged 5,821 BTC as collateral for the loan, valued at approximately $340.7 million, accounting for about 51% of the company's total BTC holdings at the time. With the repayment of the loan, Coinbase's security interest in the related collateral assets has been simultaneously released. Riot initially secured a $100 million Bitcoin-backed loan in April 2025 and increased the credit line to $200 million the following month. This repayment comes approximately seven months ahead of the revised maturity date.
