[The UAE and Singapore Are Becoming Testing Grounds for Stablecoin Cross-Border Payments]
According to a report by The National on September 25, the UAE and Singapore are emerging as key testing grounds for stablecoin cross-border payments and corporate treasury applications. The Head of Digital Currency for Visa Asia-Pacific stated that stablecoins are more likely to develop alongside the banking system rather than replace it. Binance Asia-Pacific Head SB Seker mentioned that the Asia-Pacific digital asset market has grown by approximately 69%–70% year-on-year, and merchants are increasingly accepting stablecoin payments. Currently, Singapore has applications such as XSGD and tokenized deposits, while the UAE is advancing DDSC and digital dirham cross-border payments. However, industry insiders have pointed out that compliance, foreign exchange conversion, liquidity, and local cash-out remain major obstacles to further developing the Middle East–Asia stablecoin payment corridor.
