The day Bybit got hacked for $1.5 billion last year, the hackers got their hands on mETH and stETH, swapped it all into ETH within hours, then laundered it into Bitcoin through THORChain. Over six months, they cleaned more than $1 billion, and in the end, less than $90 million was recovered. Right now, the most stolen asset globally is cryptocurrency. I think this is a bug in decentralization—crypto should have the ability to freeze assets. Otherwise, it’s basically a cash machine for North Korea’s nuclear weapons. With AI in the mix in the future, the speed of hacks and the scale of thefts will only get scarier.
