[Goldman Sachs Lowers 12-Month Target for USD/JPY to 150, Market Sentiment Shifts] According to a report by Golden Finance on September 25, Goldman Sachs has lowered its forecast for the USD/JPY exchange rate, citing improvements in Japan's domestic policy environment and the potential for Japanese capital to flow back into the country, making the case for increasing yen holdings more compelling. Strategist Karen Reichgott Fishman’s latest predictions are as follows: USD/JPY three-month target at 158, six-month target at 155, and twelve-month target at 150; previously, the forecasts were 162, 163, and 165, respectively. She wrote in the research report: 'Considering these changes, the appeal of going long on the yen has increased, particularly as a hedge against the risk of recession concerns.' Goldman Sachs also believes that the potential threat of further foreign exchange intervention by Japan will limit the upside for USD/JPY. In the short term, Goldman Sachs maintains a cautious tactical stance, favoring short positions on EUR/JPY.
