[SMBC Nikko Securities: Bank of Japan May Raise Interest Rates Every Four to Five Months] Jin10 News, September 24 – Yoshimasa Maruyama, a strategist at SMBC Nikko Securities, stated that the Bank of Japan might raise interest rates every four to five months. Last Friday, the central bank raised rates to 1.25%, just three months after the previous hike. He noted that tightening too quickly could pose downside risks to the economy, but if inflationary risks rise significantly, the Bank of Japan might shorten the interval to three months. SMBC Nikko Securities expects the Bank of Japan to raise rates in January and June next year, with the terminal rate reaching 1.75%.
