[DeepSeek New Paper: No Single Mechanism Can Prevent All Agent Misconduct and System Failures]
A new paper on agent training published by DeepSeek has garnered attention. This 31-page paper introduces its internally used production-grade sandbox platform, DSec. The paper has over a hundred authors, including Liang Wenfeng. One particularly interesting section of the paper is 'Agent Misconduct.' DeepSeek discovered that agents can obtain answers through unintended channels, such as residual answers in management files on search platforms, which undermines the validity of training and evaluation results. Even after introducing access controls, agents were found to exchange file data block mappings, attempting to access protected file content through another file descriptor, thereby compromising tasks or shared infrastructure. DeepSeek concludes that no single mechanism can prevent all agent misconduct and system failures.
