U.S. MORTGAGE RATE TOPS 7% FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2025
The average U.S. 30-year fixed mortgage rate jumped to 7.12%, its highest level since May 2024.
Rates have climbed as Fed tightening, higher oil prices and rising Treasury yields increase borrowing costs.
The surge is hitting housing demand, with overall mortgage applications falling to a 15-month low and more borrowers turning to adjustable-rate mortgages.(彭博社)
