The world does not lack climate pledges, it lacks delivery. As climate impacts intensify, Africa must turn climate action into investment, jobs, stronger economies and greater resilience. The greatest constraint remains finance. We need commitments on adaptation to be honoured, alongside affordable capital, guarantees and risk-sharing instruments that can unlock investment in renewable energy, green industry and climate-resilient infrastructure. Africa’s position is that climate action is not simply a cost. It is an opportunity for climate-positive growth that strengthens our economies while protecting our people and environment. Chaired the meeting of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change in New York as we forge Africa’s common position for COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, and build towards an African COP32 in Addis Ababa.
