According to Wu, Sonic Labs CEO Matt Visser announced in the 100-day project progress report that all manual minting of S tokens will be canceled, retaining only the auto-minting mechanism for validator rewards to ensure network security. The team is introducing new independent validators and researching a dynamic reward mechanism. They have also commissioned a third-party audit of the S token supply and related disclosures, with the report expected to be released in the coming weeks.
Visser stated that buybacks, token burns, and fee sharing must be based on actual revenue, and these arrangements will not proceed without sufficient income support.
Additionally, Sonic V2.2 went live on September 22, introducing transaction bundling, expanded transaction fee sponsorship, and a new execution engine. The project will also undergo organizational restructuring, focusing on independent technical business development in areas like payments and forex, AI, RWA and tokenization, and prediction markets, while maintaining the operation of the Sonic L1 network.
