Wu Blockchain has learned that Dutch police reported the arrest of two men suspected of using fake EURC tokens to scam Rolex watch sellers. In August 2025, multiple sellers on the second-hand trading platform Marktplaats agreed to accept EURC as payment from buyers, but what they actually received were worthless counterfeit tokens that looked similar. One seller handed over a watch after seeing the transfer, only to realize they had been scammed when attempting to exchange the tokens for euros.
