This Townhall was a special one, celebrating our anniversary while looking at the latest developments across the ecosystem and what’s coming next. We got you covered 👇 🎂 5 Years of STEPN Yawn opened the Townhall by reflecting on the early days of STEPN, from its original concept as a gamified DeFi project to the decision to build a game around real-world movement. Five years later, the product has evolved significantly, but the core idea remains the same: encouraging people to move. A special thank you went to the community for staying with us through the highs and lows and continuing to support the ecosystem. 🎉 #STEPNEMBER5 September marks 5 years of STEPN and 2 years of STEPN GO! To celebrate, #STEPNEMBER5 brings a month-long anniversary event across both apps, with new challenges and rewards every week. The challenges cover different aspects of the ecosystem: 🔸 Gem and Raw Stone Upgrades 🔸 Energy consumption 🔸 Distance 🔸 Enhancements 🔸 Challenge Capsules Rewards range from Uncommon Sneakers and Raw Stones to Legendary Genesis Sneakers! And Week 4 comes with an extra surprise: Anniversary Soulbound Sneakers on Polygon. 🏁 Marathon Season 3 and STEPNathon 3 Marathon Season 3 is still underway, and STEPNathon is returning for its third edition! From October 26 to November 2, Season Pass holders can take on the ultimate endurance challenge. The format remains simple: 🔹 Complete 21 km or 42 km in a single session 🔹 Participate using STEPN, STEPN GO, or both 🔹 Every finisher enters a Genesis Sneaker raffle Two Genesis Sneakers are waiting: 🎁 1 STEPN Genesis Sneaker 🎁 1 STEPN GO Genesis Sneaker The further you run, the better your chances: 🔸 21 km gives 1 raffle entry 🔸 42 km gives 2 raffle entries Completing the challenge on both apps allows you to enter both raffles. Additional rewards are also available: 🟢 STEPN 🔹 Exclusive Badge, Background, and 5 GGBoxes for each distance tier 🟣 STEPN GO 🔹 Exclusive Background and 5 GGBoxes for each distance tier Completing 42 km also unlocks the 21 km reward tier. You still have a few Marathon rounds left to prepare. Time to build that endurance! 🟣 Polygon Realm The Townhall also highlighted the significant improvement in community sentiment around the Polygon Realm. Interest in Polygon Sneakers has grown considerably, and the Realm has become a much bigger part of community discussions again, especially among our Japanese community, who affectionately call it the "P-Country". To build on this momentum, we're introducing a limited-time Polygon Challenge Capsule event! The first round runs from September 22 to September 29. Here's what to expect: 🔹 5 Common Shoeboxes up for grabs 🔹 Low entry fee to encourage participation from all Realms 🔹 Participation limited to one entry per user The goal is to give users another reason to explore Polygon while putting Polygon Sneakers directly into the Challenge Capsule reward pool. And if the community enjoys this first round, more Polygon Capsule rounds could follow! 🏅 More STEPN Badges More Badges are coming to STEPN! The team is working on new Badges designed to recognize different types of players, from the most competitive Leaderboard participants to those who enjoy more unusual achievements. The new batch will include Badges for reaching specific positions on the Monthly and All-Time Leaderboards. Some achievements will reward players who manage to reach and maintain some of the highest positions. And yes, there will even be a badge for reaching number one on the All-Time Leaderboard! But not every badge needs to be about being the best. Some upcoming Badges will reward players for landing on very specific Leaderboard positions, including: 🔸 777th 🔸 6,767th 🔸 8,888th The idea is to create a badge collection that reflects the way each player interacts with STEPN. The new Badges will be released in two batches, with the first batch arriving on September 23! 🙋 Community Questions The Townhall also included community questions collected from X. A few highlights: 🔹 STEPN's original branding returned to celebrate the 5th anniversary of STEPN. 🔹 Shiti and Jerry are still with the team, handling behind-the-scenes operations and development respectively. 🔹 Gas Hero badges that were never transferred remain visible or tradable in STEPN, but the original transfer process cannot be reversed. 🔹 The possibility of allowing community developers to build applications using ecosystem tokens and assets has been discussed internally, and the team will explore what can be done. 📅 A New Townhall Format One final update: Townhalls are moving to a quarterly format! The goal is to keep each Townhall relevant and packed with meaningful updates for the community. That's the September Townhall recap.
