In recent years, the switch between bull and bear markets happens in the blink of an eye. Try to avoid using terms like 'bull market' or 'bear market' to describe market trends—it’s easy to fall into a fixed mindset.
Maybe we’re still in a big bear market, but right now, there’s a clear upward trend. If you approach it with a bear market mindset and go short, you could lose not just your entire year’s profits but also your principal.
When there’s an obvious upward trend, cut your losses on short positions immediately and go long instead. Don’t rely on wishful thinking. And don’t wait—most of the time, retail investors love to wait, but they don’t even know what they’re waiting for. Take the current market, for example: if $BTC suddenly crashes from 86k to 80k, would you dare to jump in? My guess is you wouldn’t—you’d still be waiting. And by the time you’re done waiting, you’ve missed the boat.
The same goes for the other way around. If the top feels off, get out immediately when it’s about time. Don’t get stuck in the so-called bull market mindset. The market can reverse at any moment, sometimes within a day or two.
This is what I’ve learned over the past few years, sharing it with my bros out there.
