Finally some good news over the weekend about geopolitics! WTI
Late-night news: 'Qatar says the U.S. hopes to reach an agreement with Iran,' and 'Iranian President plans to deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.' Plus, after Iran's foreign minister visited China, this week the Eastern delegation is heading to the U.S.
Although the U.S. hasn’t officially responded yet and Trump is still trying to spook the market, it seems like positive signals are coming through. Also, early this morning, WTI oil prices dropped below $94, so my short positions are finally seeing less unrealized losses. Bitcoin ($BTC) also surged close to $82K, and U.S. stock index futures are rallying hard.
Let’s see if things can de-escalate further and move toward a ceasefire and negotiations before the Eastern delegation visits the U.S. this week. Or even if there’s still some conflict this week, as long as oil prices don’t spike above $97–$99, it might indicate that real de-escalation isn’t far off. If that’s the case, the downward trend in oil prices will become more and more apparent.
Alternatively, it could be that they’re waiting for the Eastern delegation’s U.S. visit to wrap up, giving Trump a significant opportunity (since this is a big deal) to push forward with resuming negotiations.
By then, oil prices might drop below $80, and the risk markets could finally see some good days ahead.
Also, as I mentioned last week, starting to short from the right side of the curve is a bit more certain now. Just make sure to set your liquidation levels at least above $120.
Of course, if you got into Bitcoin ($BTC) earlier, that’s not bad either!
