BREAKING: Foreign holdings of US Treasuries fell -$50 billion in July, to $9.25 trillion, the lowest total since October 2025.
Foreign holdings reflect net purchases or sales as well as bond valuation changes.
This marks the 4th monthly decline over the last 5 months, totaling -$239 billion.
Japan, the largest foreign holder, trimmed its holdings by -$13 billion in July, to $1.11 trillion, its lowest since January 2025.
Meanwhile, China, the 3rd-largest holder, reduced its holdings by -$15 billion, to $618 billion, its lowest level since August 2008.
Foreign demand for US Treasuries remains fragile.
