[Liquid Network Hacker Still Holds 598.5 Bitcoins, L-BTC to Bitcoin Conversion Suspended for 11 Days]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Liquid Network attacker returned 3,400 Bitcoins following the vulnerability exploit on September 6, accounting for approximately 85% of the transferred assets. Currently, the attacker still holds 598.50 Bitcoins, valued at over $45 million. Blockstream, the digital asset infrastructure company responsible for maintaining Liquid Network, has refused to pay ransom for the remaining assets and has demanded the return of the associated Bitcoins.
The network shows that the circulating L-BTC stands at 4,234.76, while the reserve Bitcoin is only 3,632.23. The L-BTC to Bitcoin conversion function has not yet been restored. Sideswap stated that redemption is currently unavailable. Blockstream founder Adam Back emphasized that L-BTC will be backed 1:1 by Bitcoin reserves and reminded holders not to sell L-BTC at a discount in over-the-counter markets. As of now, Blockstream has not issued an announcement stating that "conversion is live."
The attacker's wallet continues to receive on-chain messages and has been subjected to address poisoning attacks and scam attempts, where similar-looking addresses are generated to trick transfers. (Bitcoin.com News)
