[Bank of England Expected to Slow Quantitative Tightening, May Ease Upward Pressure] Jin10 Data, September 17 – The Bank of England is expected to announce in its upcoming decision that it will slow the pace of quantitative tightening starting from October for the next year. Quantitative tightening refers to the process of reducing the Bank of England's holdings of UK government bonds acquired during previous rounds of quantitative easing. Analysts estimate that the Bank of England may lower the pace of balance sheet reduction for the next year starting in October from the current £70 billion per year to around £50 billion per year. Kathleen Brooks from XTB stated in a report that this move will not significantly reduce bond yields but may ease upward pressure. The yield on 10-year UK government bonds hit a 19-year high of 5.439% this week, mainly due to inflation concerns and following the rise in global government bond yields. The latest reading is 5.292%.
