The CLARITY Act is down but not out.
Tuesday's Senate cloture vote failed 49-50, short of the 60 needed. The bill collapsed over ethics language on officials' crypto holdings, not the market structure framework itself.
Digital Sovereignty Alliance's Adrian Wall told Cointelegraph that senators on both sides are eyeing the lame-duck session, the post-election window where outgoing Congress members can still vote, as a last shot.
The bill passed the House 294-134 and cleared Senate Banking Committee 15-9. But the window is narrow, versions still need reconciling, and November could shift the math.
Wall calls it a "long shot." TBH, after more than a year of debate, CLARITY was always a "would be nice" not a "we need this or Bitcoin goes to zero." I wouldn't hold my breath.
