Aave founder and CEO Stani Kulechov stated that after the U.S. Senate rejected advancing the Clarity Act with a 49-50 vote, DeFi might need to follow a regulatory path similar to Uber—first expanding real-world usage, then driving the formation of a regulatory framework. He remains hopeful that the Clarity Act can make progress this year. In its next phase, Aave will focus on expanding tokenized stocks, securities, and other RWAs (Real-World Assets). It has already launched the RWA Hub on Avalanche for institutional lending, allowing certain tokenized assets to be used as collateral to borrow stablecoins. Kulechov mentioned that institutional capital, given its large scale, could become a significant source of demand for on-chain lending. Currently, the main bottleneck for tokenization and DeFi has shifted from technology to market adoption. Aave also plans to roll out a simplified savings app for consumers, aiming to lower barriers like wallets, networks, and stablecoins, while enabling seamless fund transfers between bank accounts and Aave.
