Distribution is everything.
Whoever controls the users controls the narrative.
Looking at the entire Crypto industry, there are only two true 'gateway-level' players from start to finish:
▌Centralized Exchanges (CEX) - Represented by Binance and Coinbase, they hold the true distribution hegemony.
▌Stablecoin Issuers - Represented by Tether and Circle, they may not directly face end-users (C-end), but they are the underlying pipelines for capital flow.
Other so-called gateways are mostly just fleeting illusions of traffic.
1/ Telegram: The non-gateway that looks most like a gateway
With 1 billion users, Telegram is theoretically the most powerful distribution channel. But the reality is disappointing.
From "tap-to-play mini-games" to becoming real on-chain users, the funnel is too steep, and user conversion has never materialized.
2/ CEX's dominance is being eroded by on-chain gateways
Perp DEXs, represented by Hyperliquid, are directly cutting into the core of CEX's business. Derivatives are the profit engine of CEXs, and the rise of Perp DEXs is the most lethal blow to their business model.
On-chain trading platforms are eating into spot trading. New-generation on-chain social products, like FOMO, are taking over Meme coins and those long-tail assets that CEXs can't even list. Fortunately, the scale of this erosion is still relatively small for now.

3/ CEX won't die, but it is being downgraded
CEXs won't disappear, of course. But they are slowly devolving from being the biggest gateway in the Crypto world.
The real trading gateway, discovery gateway, and speculation gateway are being gradually carved up and eroded by on-chain products.
