Zcash completed a major next-gen network upgrade, NU7, through its latest privacy pool, Ironwood, with a token governance vote. Nearly 2.4 million ZEC (about two-thirds of eligible tokens) participated in the vote while maintaining holding anonymity. The results showed that 99.9% of votes supported reducing block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds to significantly speed up transaction confirmations. 98.9% of votes supported maintaining the existing Bitcoin-style periodic halving mechanism instead of a gradual output reduction. 96.6% of votes approved delaying the reissuance of Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM) funds until February 2031.
