⏰ Crypto Bill Not Passed: The "Cryptocurrency Market Structure Bill" (aka the "CLARITY Act") faced a critical procedural vote early this morning. The final result was a 50-50 tie, falling short of the 60 votes needed for passage. This means the vote on the CLARITY Act did not pass, and it cannot proceed to formal Senate deliberations in the short term. However, this result does not mean the bill is permanently dead or officially rejected. It simply indicates that the procedural debate on whether to move forward with deliberations has failed. For now, the bill cannot advance to discussions on amendments. While there is still foundational support for the principles of the bill, the current version failed to secure a broad enough bipartisan coalition. One of the primary drafters of the CLARITY Act, Cynthia Lummis (@SenLummis), along with @SenTedCruz and several other political figures, pointed to the Democrats as the main reason for the setback, accusing them of never taking consumer protection and maintaining U.S. leadership seriously. They criticized the move as "bringing politics into it" and warned that this could drive the crypto industry and related jobs overseas.
