Former Fantom/Sonic CEO Michael Kong responded to Sonic Labs' earlier announcement of immediately terminating their partnership, stating that his departure was not voluntary. After his eight years of service, both parties had negotiated and signed a severance and release agreement. Sonic Labs and its affiliates had repeatedly promised to fulfill the agreement over the past two and a half months but have so far refused to execute it. Additionally, his original contractor agreement has not been honored. Kong mentioned that the agreement includes a clause prohibiting both parties from publicly disparaging each other and reserved the right to file claims against Sonic Labs and its affiliates.
Andre Cronje later posted in support of Kong, noting that Kong had been deeply involved in building Fantom/Sonic and had handled years-long litigation with the Korean founding team on behalf of Fantom. Cronje expressed that Kong should not have been forced out of the project in this manner.
