The tricks you can play with tokenized stocks are way more than direct brokerage connections. Just checked, BNCB has a total issuance of 3 million tokens, and in less than 24 hours, 3,149 tokens have already been sent to a black hole address, accounting for 0.1%. Since BNCB tokens are convertible to BNC shares at a 1:1 ratio, this has caused the stock of the listed company BNC to enter a deflationary state. In traditional financial markets, for a company's stock to become deflationary, the company would need to repurchase shares with cash, turn them into treasury stock, and then have the board decide to cancel them. With tokenization, this power is decentralized and given to everyone. However, according to the documentation, only when users exchange their BNCB tokens for BNC shares on Binance will the issuer officially destroy the BNCB tokens. Tokens sent directly to the black hole address on-chain won’t be counted in the total destroyed amount and won’t change anything—they just become permanently unredeemable for shares. The issuer’s custodial shares exceed the circulating tokens, effectively creating a deflationary and over-collateralized state.
