[American investigative blogger exposes Anthropic's 'AI Doomsday Theory' conspiracy: Narrative may involve a closed-loop of interests, calls for Congressional investigation]
DeepTech TechFlow reports that on September 15, American investigative blogger Kevin Bass posted on the X platform, exposing the conspiracy behind Anthropic's 'AI Doomsday Theory.' After reviewing Anthropic's financial relationships, he believes the company has formed a 'regulatory capture machine' driven by financial ties and has called on the U.S. Congress to investigate.
Kevin Bass stated that Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei previously proposed having third-party organizations evaluate AI model risks, naming METR as one such institution. However, METR and its affiliated organizations reportedly have financial ties to Anthropic. Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz's shares in Anthropic were invested into the Good Ventures Foundation, which is a major funder of the AI safety ecosystem, including METR. It is estimated that the value of these Anthropic-related shares has risen from approximately $500 million at the beginning of last year to over $7.7 billion currently.
Based on this, Kevin Bass questioned whether these organizations can truly conduct independent evaluations of Anthropic and AI risks. He also accused institutions, including the Tarbell Center, of continuously promoting the 'AI Doomsday Theory,' thereby creating a feedback loop of 'amplifying AI risk narratives -> driving regulation -> further strengthening funding within the ecosystem.' This mechanism, he argues, could ultimately harm the competitiveness of the U.S. AI industry.
(Note: The above information is based on Kevin Bass's personal investigation and judgment. The financial relationships and causal chains he proposed have yet to be independently verified.)
