[The Central Bank of Russia Includes Cryptocurrency in the Financial Market Risk List]
According to Bits.media, the Central Bank of Russia has classified cryptocurrency as a financial market risk in its overview of the 'Main Directions for the Development of the Russian Financial Market in 2027 and 2028-2029,' expressing concerns over the increasing use of stablecoins and other digital assets by Russians as substitutes for the national currency. The central bank stated that investing in digital currencies carries the risk of total loss, with no responsible entity or guarantees. It also pointed out that cryptocurrencies circulate outside the jurisdiction of individual countries, reducing the effectiveness of national restrictions and bans, while the lack of global unified regulation creates conditions for the growth of shadow markets. The central bank advocates for holding unauthorized organizers of digital currency circulation criminally liable and imposing administrative penalties on non-compliant legitimate market participants.
