The company, which spun off from Intel in 2020, develops networking technology to help AI chips communicate more efficiently and has launched a product called Active Compute Fabric. This product addresses the issue of significant GPU time being wasted waiting for data to arrive by enabling chips to process and transmit information simultaneously. Cornelis competes with NVIDIA using an open architecture, allowing customers to use various GPUs and accelerator hardware within its network architecture. Although NVIDIA's chip technology can technically operate on other network architectures, its optimization for proprietary software makes customers more inclined to adopt NVIDIA's full GPU stack.
