House unanimously passed the final version of legislation to codify into law to permanently stop the U.S. Mint from producing the one-cent penny for general circulation. The U.S. Mint officially stopped producing circulating pennies on Nov. 12, 2025. The bipartisan Common Cents Act, which also requires cash transactions to be rounded up or down to the nearest 5 cent, passed the House by voice vote and now heads back to the Senate for final approval.
