Technically speaking, a ceasefire isn’t something Trump can decide unilaterally, but logically, if he offers enough concessions and benefits, he could essentially make the call himself. The problem is that Iran’s asking price makes it hard for him to make those unilateral concessions. Plus, Trump’s interests don’t completely align with those of the Republican Party. From a party perspective, stopping the losses with an immediate ceasefire and focusing fully on the election would be the most beneficial move. But for Trump personally, admitting defeat before the election means he’d take 100% of the blame himself, whereas if he drags it out until after the election, the responsibility becomes shared. The most likely scenario now is for the Oman meeting to happen as soon as possible, with Middle Eastern countries reluctantly accepting Iran’s transit proposal while the U.S. tacitly agrees. Ironically, the biggest obstacle now comes from Saudi Arabia. On the surface, they’re saying the meeting needs to be postponed because of the base attacks, but in reality, they’re still unwilling to give up their position as the leader of the Islamic world. After all, the Shia-Sunni conflict has been ongoing for a thousand years, and reconciliation only happened recently. Fighting for post-war dominance is pretty much expected. So the next chapter in this drama might involve the U.S. making certain promises to Saudi Arabia in exchange for concessions to hold the Oman meeting as soon as possible. @BITstocks_CN Buy U.S. stocks on BIT—over 10,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs, real holdings, and enjoy dividend payouts.
