I'm a breakout trader, and most of the money I've made over the years has come from trading breakouts. Of course, a lot of losses have also come from breakouts. This month, I caught two waves on $ETH but took a small loss on a breakout during the bull run. Sharing some of my insights on breakout trading with you all! It may seem simple, but it’s actually a deep test of skill. There are only two real types of breakouts: a light pullback or a direct surge. If the timing isn’t right, the movement is sluggish, or it retreats two steps for every three forward, it’s most likely a fake breakout. When chasing breakouts, if you have strict conditions in place, you won’t suffer massive losses. If you do experience a big loss, it’s a sign of a fake breakout, and you must exit immediately. Prioritize not losing over everything else. Don’t fantasize about holding on forever—learn to admit when you’re wrong. Opportunities are endless, trial and error is endless, but your capital is limited. Engrave the principle of "never holding onto a losing position" into your bones. Breakout trading requires combining multiple dimensions. Even if you understand a lot, you’ll still make mistakes in practice. Knowing which trades to take and which to avoid requires constant refinement.
