**[Robinhood's Crypto Trading Volume Surges 61% MoM in August, Prediction Market Contracts Skyrocket 15x in a Year]**
BlockBeats News, September 12: Robinhood's operational data for August revealed that the platform's nominal cryptocurrency trading volume rose to $17.5 billion, marking a 61% month-over-month (MoM) increase, though still down 38% year-over-year (YoY). Among this, Robinhood App trading volume reached $7.4 billion, up 72% MoM, while Bitstamp trading volume hit $10.1 billion, up 53% MoM.
Compared to crypto trading, Robinhood's prediction market has grown even faster. In August, event contract trading volume reached 4.7 billion contracts. Although this represents a 23% MoM decline, it reflects an approximately 15x YoY increase. Previously, Robinhood had identified event contracts as a key growth area, with related revenue in Q2 of this year growing more than 10x YoY, surpassing crypto trading to become a significant source of transaction revenue.
As of the end of August, Robinhood's total platform assets reached $384 billion, a 26% YoY increase, with 28.6 million funded accounts. Margin lending balances stood at $21.5 billion, up 72% YoY.
Additionally, on-chain transaction activity on Robinhood's Robinhood Chain continues to grow. Robinhood is currently transitioning from a traditional stock and crypto trading platform to a comprehensive financial platform encompassing crypto assets, prediction markets, and on-chain transactions.
